Hmm she doesn't believe in global warming?? Well, she must have her head buried pretty deep in the sand.. Her own state's coastal erosion rates have been under study by the USGS (United States Geological Society) for many years now.. My Brother did some onsite work in Alaska a few years ago and was interviewed by NPR in Alaska.. OOps!! I forgot.. Cons don't listen to NPR.. they just cut their funding..
Sad... truly sad...

Besides the fact that as a female Hillary primary voter who was totally insulted by Gov. Palin in her speech last Friday and again last night (She's no Hillary!!!)I have just a points to make/questions to suppose...

1. I know she is being praised for taking her special needs newborn to meetings, etc...... but if elected is she going to take that child to Congress while she does her duty as VP? Will Congress have to put the American Public's business on hold for her to take care of her child? What if she travels to Iraq or Afganistan? Is she going to take her baby or for that matter her children with her to these war zones???? She is getting huge amounts of praise for being a great mother , but if forced to choose between her children and the American people who will she put first and should she ever be put in the position to make that choice? I don't think she should, but it is very well possible that it may happen. Women everywhere may get upset for me saying this, but right or wrong..it's the reality women are faced with everyday. A reality that HER party has delighted in for decades. By the way, aren't the social evangies the same people who think women should stay at home and raise their children? That working moms aren't "good" mothers if they don't stay at home? Just another hypocritical move by the right wingers. I don't know why we were surprised...

2. If the Republicans can trott her family out to make them seem like the "All-American" family, why can't we raise questions about the family? She has deemed to make her family business public business, but only to questions regarding the niceties???? She also made her family business public business by bringing her sister's messy divorce and custody battle from a guy who sounds like a HUGE asshole into the Govenor's Office (i.e. Trooper-Gate). I am sure if I ever ran into the pig I would probably want to kick'em in the....well you know and then form a line to let every other woman who wanted to get a shot in too. I know you girls are out there...(o; Anyway, back to the point. She can't be called a reformer when she has abused her power as gov. to benefit her family situation.
Bottom line....the Republicans can't take it when people point out legitimate questions about her family situation, her possible abuse of power as Alaska's Govenor, her thinking it's okay to aerial hunt bears and wolves and other wildlife, her denying global-warning exists while it takes place right their for her to see in her on state because they are on the WRONG side of the issues and history.

This is my new favorite blog - hooray for all you wonderful, gutsy, bright women who make me feel like I'm not all alone in this fight. I'll not repeat all of your astute comments, but will add that after watching Sarah Palin last night (too horrid to watch and yet I couldn't turn it off!) I thought back to Howard Dean's little outburst of excitement back in 2004 - the outburst that likely caused him to lose that primary because he was deemed "unpresidential." That's what I thought of Palin's speech. Amen to everything you've brought up regarding her lack of experience, her parading her pregnant daughter before the world, etc., but can her smug sarcasm be considered presidential?

Sarah Palin is one very scary person. She believes that the war is God's plan and that God also has a plan to drill for oil! While mayor, she tried to ban books in the local library and then cut off funds for that same library when she didn't get her way. She wants to take the almost extinct polar bear off the endangered list because it interferes with her oil drilling plans. She is for abstinence only education and objects to teens having access to birth control. (That really worked well for her daughter.) She does not believe in evolution or global warming.

Keep those blue dots up and running and spread the word about this woman!

Karl Rove is working masterfully again - I hope people can see that the Republicans are using Palin and her baggage as a smokescreen -to get away from the OTHER issues and make people forget the last 8 years. Sarah Distraction Palin - hastily selected for change by a hothead. McCain is for change - changing his address. All I have to say is Palin's moose gun and her international diplomacy skills are not going to do us any good when McCain decides to attack Iran - invade Syria - North Korea and seems Cheney is working on Russia - Orange alert is ready to go i betcha before the election.

In the midst of the outrage that this woman would presume to invoke the name of Hillary Clinton during her introductory speech last week (Madam, you are NO Hillary Clinton!), what struck me most was how clearly this shows what little regard John McCain's campaign has for our country. I think in Hollywood, they call it "stunt casting"--bringing on someone they know will help ratings, whether it has anything to do with the story line or not. I waited for someone to stand up and say they refused to take this nomination seriously. To propose someone with such little experience (when you have to pad your resume with your work in the PTA, you have a very thin resume, indeed), just for the sake of media attention, shows such a massive disdain for the American people that it boggles the mind. And then to realize what an absolute reactionary FANATIC this woman is--you can see it in the eyes! Gosh! And THEN the family issues: my whole problem with the daughter's pregnancy is not that I think Ms. Palin should have had more control over her children--that IS a sexist remark--or even her extremist stance on abortion, which is just what you'd expect. But, what I kept coming back to is, why would any parent deliberately expose a 17-year-old to national scrutiny at such a time? Wouldn't you care more about your child than to throw them to the wolves in that way? Especially KNOWING you were not the most qualified, not the only choice. If the plane is about to crash and you're the only one on board who knows how to fly it, then, yes, you make sacrifices--but practically anyone else on board has more experience landing this particular plane than Sarah Palin. So she's THAT ambitious that those five children she trots out actually mean very little.
And the Republicans think this will appeal to me as a woman? You've got to be kidding!

Please. Watching the convention last night, Sarah Palin just came off as a total bitch to me. And not like a tough, stick-to-your-guns, run-with-the-boys type bitch, like some people thought Hillary was, but a bitch, like being in high school and telling your girlfriends, "Wow, Bristol's mom is a bitch." Her speech was nice for what she wanted to do (take cheap shots and rile people up), but where was the meat of it? Like what she wants to help John McCain accomplish? Of course, she, too, took the time to acknowledge McCain's time spent as a POW, but as a friend of mine said, "That only goes so far. I met a homeless drunk man who was a POW. And he lived under a bridge." Then again, I don't blame her. If I had as little experience as her, I'd probably overshadow it with John McCain's experience and 107 years in the Senate, too. She was sarcastic and smug with basically no reason to be.

And another thing. About McCain making a "gutsy" choice? Sure it was gutsy—gutsy in that he would be stupid enough to lump all feminists, all Hillary supporters, and all feminists into a group that he thinks are just wanting to vote for a woman, any woman. Like Nell Carter said, give me a break.

I can't decide if she reminds me more of the character always in the beauty pageant movies who is the former beauty queen and now pageant coordinator. Like that woman in Lipstick or Miss Congeniality or even Michelle Pfeiffer in Hairspray.

Or if she just makes me think of Dick Cheney in drag. With a baby tucked under one arm and a Bible tucked under the other.

victim? no way. that is one scary, snarky woman. though, the words may have been written by others, you can't fake that creepy condescending attitude.

did anyone else think it was shameful the way they used that poor baby as a prop?

on on the husband front, did anyone else find it, dunno...odd that while praising her husband she used the word "package." or am i just a dirty-minded old boomer?
